I hope you’re having an amazing weekend! It’s Sunday morning, and the kids are outside having a plast in the slip n’ slide (yes they do still exist, no you don’t fly like a rocket on them anymore). I’ve curled up in a chair by the window so I can sip the oat milk cappuccino I just made (morning ritual), watch the kiddos, and dive into the last 30 pages or so of the book I’m currently reading.
I have always loved books, I get so lost in them. That doesn’t always mean I’m reading one though, so even though it’s a fairly regular staple in my “wind down” routine, I’m not going to act like I don’t default to Netlfix at times, or re-runs of New Girl. I am so in love with all these amazing books I keep reading though, I can’t help myself from adding to my queued up pile of ready-to-read books stacked on my floor.
I’I am currently reading The Last Thing He Told Me, by Laura Dave.
From the moment I opened this book, I was pleasantly surprised and drawn in. I wasn’t sure what to expect, sometimes I don’t read the back on purpose so I don’t decide it’s not for me without knowing if it could be something for me.
Hannah loves Owen, and married him, moving from NYC to Sausalito to settle on a houseboat with him and his daughter. One day, he’s gone under suspicious circumstances, leading her on a journey to Austin, Texas to figure out where he went and what the truth is.
When I read this book was a suspenseful thriller, I wasn’t sure if that was the genre I was craving in the moment. Even though this book is that in a sense, it’s so much more about intrigue and going on this journey that uncovers a storyline I was not expecting.
Check this book out, friends, and let me know what you think!
